Work Is Being Done...Even When We Are Still

Cindy

Keep An Eye Out
Keep An Eye Out

Being still is sometimes really hard to accomplish. In our culture, the drive to push, push, push, and do, do, do is often perceived as a measuring stick for success. Yes, it is good to be productive and accomplish things. Yes, it is good to provide for our families and ourselves. Yet, we are called to pay attention to our times of stillness and what is going on in our minds when all is quiet. Oftentimes, our best work can be percolating in our heads, and if we don't stop to let that creativity brew, it can be stunted.

Maybe that time for you is at the end of the day when your mind is racing. Maybe it's the time of day when the kiddos are off to school, and you have some quiet time to catch up on things, yet you find your mind wandering. Maybe you're an empty nester, recently retired, or without work, and you have questions about what’s next for you and how best to use your time. Maybe that time for you is simply a few minutes in the shower. Some of our best and most creative ideas come in the stillness.

I was reminded today of how we like to fill up our days rather than letting them unfold and looking for and responding to the needs we see right before us. Responding with thankfulness that there is a person to help, a problem to solve, free time to think, or extra time to fit in some good reading. It is wonderful to have a to-do list each day, but it is equally wonderful to find balance in knowing that if we don't get it all done, there were more important things called to our attention to do or not do.

My wish for you today is to keep an eye out for so you may see the beauty and abundance available. Be okay with times of busyness or stillness. Know that you have a choice to slow things down and that you are not alone in this life. You will receive the strength to tackle anything that comes your way today. Simply ask Him to hold your hand, walk with you, and be your guide.
