Is Your Mind Tangled in a Knot?

The one thing we can always be certain of is that life will keep on life-ing! By that, I don’t mean it’s always about the huge, life-changing events. Sometimes, it’s the little things that catch us off guard. Just the other day, I plugged in my hair dryer, and suddenly—spark, puff of smoke, and a tripped breaker! Cue my inner monologue asking, “Where is my business continuity plan?” (Insert eye-roll smirk here.) A week later, the microwave decided to join the rebellion with a dramatic farewell. Naturally, I started wondering if the wiring in my house had turned against me, but nope—different breakers.
It’s funny how we don’t realize the importance of things until they stop working. And while these might seem like minor inconveniences, they made me think about what happens when our minds go on overload. Now that’s serious business! When our thoughts are tangled, it can lead to depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, poor eating habits, and even impact our ability to work or connect with others. Feeling “off” for a short time is part of being human, but if those feelings linger for months, it’s a sign to check in—with yourself and with someone you trust. Share the struggle, because you don’t have to navigate it alone.
I’ve learned the hard way that my mind can be a dangerous place to wander alone—especially when it’s stuck in “tangled” mode instead of “amusement park” mode. But here’s the good news: there are ways to unravel the chaos and find peace. Here are a few things that help me:
Go to God's word and pray for His guidance.
Take a walk in nature and breathe in the calm.
Love on my furry friends—pets are true healers.
Call a trustworthy friend and talk it out.
Take a warm bath with soothing bath salts or oils.
Write down the urgent thoughts weighing on me, then focus on the next small steps I can take.
Remember, life-ing will keep happening, but you’re stronger than you think. Take care of yourself, and don’t be afraid to lean on faith, friends, and even a life coach or therapist or whatever brings you peace. You’ve got this! 💛
Grace to you,
Cindy
