The Voice of Truth is Within Your Reach
The Voice of Truth is Within Your Reach

Today, I was reminded of a powerful set of lyrics from the song “Voice of Truth” by Casting Crowns, written by Mark Hall and Steven Curtis Chapman. These words stirred something deep within me:

"But the giant's calling out my name and he laughs at me   He's reminding me of all the times I've tried before and failed   And the giant keeps on telling me, time and time again:   'Boy, you'll never win!' (You'll never win) 'No, you'll never win!' (Never win)   But the voice of truth tells me a different story..."
"...And the voice of truth says, 'Do not be afraid!'   And the voice of truth says, 'This is for My glory'   Out of all the voices calling out to me,   Oh, I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth..."
"...But the stone was just the right size to put the giant on the ground   And the waves, they don't seem so high on top of them lookin' down And I can soar with the wings of eagles when I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus singing over me."*

As I pondered and reflected this morning during my usual prayer time, a recent conversation with a friend came to mind. We talked about what holds us back from moving forward. Fear often keeps us stuck—afraid to take the next step, unsure of what lies ahead. What if we fail? What if we succeed? What if, what if, what if…

This “what iffing” keeps us stalled—our anxious minds spinning, focused on an unknown future instead of being grounded in faith, hope, and trust in the here and now. Pride, perfectionism, fear, control issues—the list goes on.

So, what do we do in those moments when we’re uncertain which way to turn?

The world is noisy, full of secular wisdom. Yet many find themselves overwhelmed by uncertainty, slipping into depression, addiction, or despair—unable to experience the joy-filled life God desires for us.

What if we made a decision to wake up one day and say, "Today, I’m going to pick up that Bible, dust it off, and ask: ‘What does God have to say about what I’m enduring and feeling right now?’”

Whether you’re in a season of suffering or celebration, the Bible is for all times. It comforts us in the lowest valleys and lifts our hearts in the highest peaks. It truly is the voice of truth.

It is for us. It is for His glory. It has proven itself time and time again—yet we often turn to worldly things first.

So, I ask you: What’s holding you back today? What are you waiting for?

Turn the page. Listen for His voice. Try this for just 10 minutes a day—and watch how your life begins to change. You can be assured—it will.

With grace,

Cindy
